How the True God Divided the Nations Among the “Gods” — And Why Jesus Came to Free Humanity From Them
Across the ancient Near East, one of the most mysterious teachings appears in multiple scriptures: the idea that God (the Most High) divided humanity among subordinate spiritual beings—known as gods, archons, watchers, angels, or cosmic rulers. These cosmic rulers became the “governors” of nations, cultures, instincts, and zodiacal archetypes.
This blog continues where the previous one ended: explaining why archetypes govern the unawakened, and now answering: How did the human world get divided under these cosmic rulers? And why did Jesus come to overthrow them?
The Ancient Teaching: The Most High Divided Humanity Into Portions
Contrary to later religious simplifications, the Bible does not teach that one single “god” ruled all nations from the beginning. Instead, the most ancient Hebrew text—preserved in the Dead Sea Scrolls—reveals the opposite:
“When the Most High divided the nations… He set the boundaries according to the number of the sons of God. But the LORD’s (YHWH’s) portion was Jacob, his own inheritance.”
— Deuteronomy 32:8–9 (Dead Sea Scrolls + Septuagint)
This means:
- The Most High = Supreme God over all creation
- The “sons of God” = spiritual rulers / archons / lesser gods
- Each nation was assigned a cosmic ruler
- YHWH (a specific deity) received Israel only—not the world
So the world became divided under cosmic governors—what later Jewish writers called “the princes of the nations” (Daniel 10) and what early Christians called “the principalities and powers” (Ephesians 6:12).
Other Cultures Tell the Same Story
The idea that the Supreme God delegated cosmic beings to rule nations appears everywhere:
- Greece: Zeus divides rule among the Olympians.
- Egypt: Atum-Ra delegates powers to the Neteru.
- Mesopotamia: Anu gives nations to Enlil, Enki, Nergal, Inanna.
- Persia: Ahura Mazda assigns the Amesha Spentas to govern creation.
- Hinduism: Brahman emanates devas who oversee cosmic functions.
- China: The Jade Emperor delegates authority to lesser celestial kings.
Every culture preserves the message: the world was placed under spiritual intermediaries. These intermediaries became the later planetary gods, zodiac rulers, archetypes, angels, or principalities.
Were These Gods Good or Bad?
Originally, they were meant to guide humanity. But over time, many:
- became corrupted
- demanded worship
- acted like tribal possessors
- fought each other
- misled humanity using fear, war, and ego
This is echoed in the Book of Enoch:
“The Watchers ruled mankind and led them astray…” — 1 Enoch 7–15
And even in the New Testament, Paul warns:
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers.”
— 2 Corinthians 4:4
“The god of this age” is not the True God. Early Christians understood this as a reference to:
- YHWH (as viewed by Gnostic Christians)
- or one of the cosmic archons
- or the collective archetypal forces ruling the world
Jesus Arrives in a World Ruled by Lesser Gods
The New Testament openly states that Jesus came into a world governed by cosmic rulers:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, powers, and rulers of this world, and the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms.”
— Ephesians 6:12
Jesus’ mission was profoundly cosmic:
- to expose corrupt cosmic rulers
- to free humanity from their influence
- to reveal the True God above the archons
- to reconnect people to the Divine Spirit within
This is why Paul says:
“Christ disarmed the principalities and powers.”
— Colossians 2:15
In other words: Jesus came to overthrow the “gods” who ruled the nations.
The Gnostic Explanation: Humanity Fell Under the Zodiacal Powers
Gnostic Christianity interprets the division of nations as humanity falling into:
- fate
- astrological control
- egoic patterns
- archetypal forces (archons)
We see this in the Apocryphon of John:
“The archons bound the soul in the twelve powers of the zodiac, so it would forget the Father.”
This matches Hermeticism:
“The twelve signs give the passions; the seven planets enforce destiny. But the one who receives Nous (Divine Mind) is free.” — Corpus Hermeticum XII
And Buddhism:
“Only the awakened escape the wheel (samsara).” — Dhammapada
And even Jesus:
“You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32
Free from what? Free from:
- fate
- archetypes
- principalities
- the god-rulers of the nations
So How Did We End Up Under These Archetypes?
Across traditions, the answer is consistent:
- Humanity became unconscious
- lost its spiritual sight
- fell into ego, fear, and survival instinct
- forgot the True Source
In this unconscious state, humans became vulnerable to:
- planetary impulses
- emotional archetypes
- ancestral patterns
- collective psychology
- spiritual rulers
This is exactly why Jesus said:
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
— Luke 23:34
He wasn’t insulting them—He was diagnosing the human condition: we act from unconscious archetypal impulses until we awaken spiritually.
Jesus’ Role: To Reunite Humanity With the True God
Jesus constantly contradicted the harsh, punitive voice of the Old Testament. Why? Because He was revealing a God above the tribal deity (YHWH) and above the cosmic rulers.
Examples include:
- rejecting “eye for eye” (Ex 21:24) — Matthew 5:38–39
- refusing to call down fire like Elijah — Luke 9:54–56
- denying stoning of the adulteress — John 8:3–11
- abolishing food laws — Mark 7:14–19
- rebuking Moses’ divorce law — Matthew 19:7–9
Jesus is showing: The true God is nothing like the archetypal god of vengeance, tribalism, and fear.
He reveals the God who:
- overrides fate
- breaks cosmic cycles
- spiritually awakens individuals
- offers freedom to all nations
The Nations Were Divided Under gods — But Jesus Came to Reverse It
The ancient world was divided under cosmic rulers—planetary beings, zodiacal archons, “sons of God,” and national deities. These rulers influenced—and sometimes oppressed—human consciousness.
But Jesus came to:
- free humanity from archetypal control
- reveal the Father above all gods
- restore the Divine Spirit in every person
- open spiritual awakening to all nations—not just Israel
Humanity was once divided, but in Christ’s revelation:
the wall of division is abolished (Ephesians 2:14)
all nations are invited into the Light
all are children of the Most High (John 1:12)
